Representatives of the Municipality of the City of Dobrich took part in a regional consultation in Varna dedicated to Bulgaria’s preparation for participation in the European cross-border and territorial cooperation programmes Interreg for the period 2028–2034.
The initiative is part of a national series of consultations organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, aiming to gather opinions and proposals from stakeholders regarding the priorities of the future programmes. Through these programmes, Bulgaria will continue its participation in European cross-border and territorial cooperation initiatives during the 2028–2034 period, which are expected to finance projects focused on the development of border regions, addressing shared challenges and strengthening partnerships between countries.
During the meeting, current opportunities for participation in initiatives under the Interreg programmes were presented, including Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021–2027 and the URBACT programme, which supports joint planning and the implementation of pilot activities among European cities.
The meeting was attended by Pavel Pavlov – Deputy Mayor for Strategic Development and Economy; Daniela Sivkova – Head of the Projects Department; and Genoveva Drumeva – Manager of the Regional Information Centre – Dobrich.
The Municipality of the City of Dobrich has significant experience in implementing projects under the Interreg programme and has successfully participated over the years in numerous international partnerships aimed at sustainable development, cultural cooperation and improving the urban environment.
During the consultation, the priorities for the upcoming programming period and the opportunities for even more active participation of local authorities in international initiatives and projects were discussed.
The municipality’s participation in such meetings is an important step in preparing new partnerships and project ideas that will contribute to the development of Dobrich and the region.
